The Los Angeles Rams are at a pivotal point in the offseason, seeking to add their roster via the draft or remaining free agents. Fresh off a season that left fans satisfied with a playoff berth, the Rams have taken this offseason to reload with some outside free agents. Looking ahead to the draft, at what positions can they add depth to the roster?

Los Angeles Rams Moves on Offense

The Rams’ activity in the free agency market has been both deliberate and impactful, particularly focusing on strengthening the interior offensive line and shoring up the defense. Notably, the Rams secured guard Jonah Jackson with a three-year, $51 million contract, a significant investment aimed at bolstering the offensive line’s interior. Kevin Dotson‘s retention on a considerable contract further underscores this commitment to keeping Matthew Stafford upright and keeping Kyren Williams running.

On offense, aside from reinforcing the IOL, the Rams have made moves to ensure continuity in their receiving corps. Wide receiver Demarcus Robinson‘s re-signing on a one-year contract maintains a key piece of the Rams’ offensive puzzle.

Los Angeles Rams Moves on Defense

The defense has seen its share of strategic additions as well. The signing of Kamren Curl, on a two-year deal exemplifies the Rams’ efforts to solidify their secondary. Additionally, the re-signing of linebacker Christian Rozeboom and the tendering of Michael Hoecht on the defensive line are moves aimed at maintaining a veteran defensive unit. Moreover, cornerback Darious Williams‘s arrival from the Jaguars on a three-year contract is set to enhance the Rams’ pass defense, a critical area of need on this team.

Despite these strategic moves, the Rams still have areas that could use further depth, particularly as they prepare for the draft and eye remaining free agents. The investments made so far reflect a focused approach to addressing weaknesses, yet the nature of the NFL, with its long season and high injury rates, dictates that depth is crucial across all positions.

Los Angeles Rams Team Needs

Offensive Line:

Even with Jackson and Dotson’s signings, additional depth could be beneficial to ensure the Rams can effectively protect their quarterback and sustain their run game over the grueling NFL season. We all saw what happened to the Rams OL in 2022 when the starters went down to injury and adding solid depth would prevent a collapse like that again.

Defensive Line:

Adding more talent to the defensive front could provide the Rams with a rotational depth that is vital for maintaining a strong defense against both the run and the pass. Attacking DL in the draft whether at Edge or DT is a critical need, especially with Aaron Donald‘s retirement.

Cornerback:

With Darious Williams and Tre’Davious White joining the ranks, the Rams have bolstered their cornerback room. However, White is likely not a long-term answer at the position.

Wide Receiver:

While Robinson’s re-signing is a positive move, the Rams could benefit from adding more depth to ensure a varied and potent passing attack. They might not need receivers in the short term but looking ahead to the next three years Kupp and Nacua are the only receivers around for the long haul.
