Super Bowl champion doubts Cowboys' championship window with Dak Prescott

A Super Bowl champion believes the Cowboys' championship window with Dak Prescott has closed.

"I believe he's reached his ceiling," former NFL wide receiver Plaxico Burress, who won Super Bowl XLII with the Giants, said Tuesday on "The Carton Show" on FS1. "They can win, but they won't win a championship with him."

Prescott has cemented himself as a solid starting QB in seven seasons with the Cowboys. He's made two Pro Bowls, has a 61-36 record as a starter and has thrown 166 TDs — the second-most in franchise history.

However, he's fallen short in the playoffs with a 2-4 record, raising doubts about his ability to win a championship.

Also, Prescott developed an interception concern last season. He threw a career-high 15 picks in 12 games, which tied the league lead.

Nevertheless, Prescott is in an excellent position to prove skeptics wrong since the Cowboys strengthened his supporting cast after a flurry of offseason moves.

Dallas traded for WR Brandin Cooks and CB Stephon Gilmore, a former Defensive Player of The Year. It also retained core pieces such as RB Tony Pollard and LB Leighton Vander Esch.

The Cowboys made a key offensive change, too. HC Mike McCarthy assumed playcalling for former offensive coordinator Kellen Moore. McCarthy recently said, "Dak has knocked it out of the park" in the new system.

The active offseason makes the Cowboys a legitimate contender. They possess the sixth-best Super Bowl odds, per OddsChecker.

Even though it's reasonable to doubt Prescott because he has never won a Super Bowl, he still has a viable championship opportunity. If the QB excels, he will rewrite his career narrative and prove he has not peaked.
