Super Bowl champion WR tells Browns to 'come get me'

The Browns are a team that on paper looks ready to make a run for a Super Bowl in 2023. Players around the league want to join Cleveland and that includes a veteran wide receiver who already has one ring.

Cleveland recently signed Austin Watkins, cousin of free-agent wide receiver Sammy Watkins. Watkins was asked by Brad Stainbrook if he would be open to joining his cousin in Cleveland and responded "tell them come get me."

Watkins played in a combined 12 games with the Packers and Ravens in 2022, posting a career-low 16 catches for 325 yards and zero touchdowns. However, it wouldn't hurt Cleveland to take a cheap flier on the nine-year veteran.

The 30-year-old would bring first-round caliber talent as the former No. 4 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft and a ton of experience, winning Super Bowl LIV with the Chiefs.

Watkins would join a crowded room that includes Amari Cooper, Elijah Moore, Donovan Peoples-Jones, Marquise Goodwin, Cedric Tillman and David Bell. So, there would be no guarantee he would even make the Browns' 53-man roster.

But more competition has never been a bad thing, especially for a team with Super Bowl aspirations, and Watkins would certainly help Cleveland determine its best 53 players, whether he's a part of the team's 2023 plans or not.

Only time will tell to see if the Browns entertain Watkins' request, but it's hard to argue against a low-risk, high-reward type of signing.
