Super Bowl King of Props: Striking gold on the ground

As the premier betting event in all of sports, the Super Bowl has been attracting gamblers to Las Vegas for more than a half-century. But this 58th edition holds special significance because the city is hosting the game for the first time.

Home to the “Black Hole” when the Raiders are playing, Allegiant Stadium will be awash in the other color on the roulette wheel for this championship rematch between Kansas City and San Francisco. The 2020 meeting featured the Chiefs overcoming a 10-point fourth-quarter deficit to earn a 31-20 victory. Having now claimed a fourth AFC crown in the last five years, they’re looking to take down the 49ers again — but this time as slight underdogs.

The King of Props has likewise been enjoying a run of success, winning both bets on the conference title games and five of his last six overall. In the run-up to the Super Bowl, he provides his favorite investment opportunities right here on Yardbarker.

Bet No. 3: Over 1½ players to score a rushing touchdown (ESPN)

The likeliest scenario obviously involves the two featured running backs. That was a winning formula when these teams played four years ago, as Kansas City’s Damien Williams and San Francisco’s Raheem Mostert both delivered rushing TDs.

This time around, each side has a bell-cow back who handles most of the work near the goal line. The Chiefs have fed Isiah Pacheco 63 carries over their three postseason games, and he has run for a touchdown in every one of them. And though the 49ers needed to come from behind in their two playoff wins, Christian McCaffrey posted a pair of rushing scores in each.

Several other players loom as potential contributors, starting with the mobile quarterbacks. Patrick Mahomes actually penetrated the end zone first in that 2020 Super Bowl, and he has run for a total of five postseason touchdowns. Meanwhile, 49ers wideout Deebo Samuel frequently gets deployed on the ground, boasting 20 rushing TDs over his five-year career.

With Jerick McKinnon possibly returning to a Chiefs backfield that also includes Clyde Edwards-Helaire, the paths to cashing this ticket are too numerous to ignore.
