Tampa Bay DL Named NFL Defensive Rookie of the Month

The 2023 NFL Draft has provided us with a lot of future stars. This season’s defensive 1st year players, in particular, have shown massive potential. Defensive Linemen Will Anderson Jr and Jalen Carter and Defensive Backs Brian Branch, Devon Witherspoon, and Joey Porter Jr have become household names.

Add one more who is making a name for himself. Buccaneer DL Calijah Kancey was named the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Month for November on Thursday.

The 6’1, 280lb DL out of the University of Pittsburgh was drafted number 19 overall by the Bucs in the 2023 NFL Draft. While at Pitt, Kancey was the 2022 ACC Defensive Player of the Year and unanimous All-American. For the month, Kancey recorded 10 tackles, 7 tackles for loss, and 2 sacks.
