Tarik Cohen agrees to three-year, $17.25 million extension with Bears

Tarik Cohen has agreed to a contract extension with the Chicago Bears before Allen Robinson, who has been disgruntled for some time.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Cohen has signed a three-year, $17.25 million extension to remain in Chicago. The deal includes $9.53 million fully guaranteed and can be worth up to $18.25 million.

Cohen signed with the Bears after being selected in the fourth round of the 2017 draft out of North Carolina A&T.

The 25-year-old has proved himself to be a reliable option for the team moving forward. In Week 1 against the Detroit Lions, Cohen rushed for 41 yards while adding two receptions for six yards.

Last season, Cohen had 64 carries for 213 yards and 79 receptions for 456 yards and three touchdowns. However, those numbers were down from his Pro Bowl campaign in 2018 when he put up 1,169 yards from scrimmage.

Cohen becomes the second player from their 2017 draft class to land an extension. Star safety Eddie Jackson landed a four-year, $58.4 million deal earlier in the offseason.

Chicago's highest pick from the 2017 class, Mitchell Trubisky, still is waiting on an extension. There are no guarantees the Bears sign him as he's been rather disappointing. They also declined his fifth-year option.
