Teammates confirm Bobby Wagner has rejoined Seahawks

According to several Seattle Seahawks players, eight-time Pro Bowler Bobby Wagner is coming home.

Seahawks veteran safety Quandre Diggs played insider, citing sources of his own when reporting Wagner's return.

"Future hall of famer LB Bobby Wagner has agreed to terms to return home to the Seattle Seahawks," Diggs Tweeted. "Seahawks fill a huge need in the middle of their defense!"

Wideout Tyler Lockett, who played seven seasons with Wagner in Seattle, confirmed Diggs' report.

Like his teammates, Wagner seems pleased about the reunion, telling Ian Rapoport of NFL Network he was "Happy to be back."

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Wagner agreed to a one-year, $7 million deal with the Seahawks.

After a messy divorce in Seattle following the 2021 season, Wagner bolted for LA in free agency, joining the Los Angeles Rams on a five-year, $50 million deal. However, the Rams released Wagner in a cost-cutting move to save cap space in February.

A few weeks after his release, rumors about a potential return to Seattle began to surface. In early March, general manager John Schneider revealed a conversation occurred between Wagner, head coach Pete Carroll and himself, adding they knew "where it's going."

Wagner is only the latest addition to the Seahawks' revamped defense this offseason. The 11-year veteran joins defensive lineman Jarran Reed, Dre'Mont Jones, linebacker Devin Bush, and safety Julian Love.

The 32-year-old recorded 81 tackles, six sacks, and two interceptions for the Rams in 2022.

A former second-round pick by the Seahawks in the 2012 NFL Draft, Wagner is back in Seattle after only one season away.
