Teddy Bridgewater has landed with a new team.

Bridgewater is signing with the Detroit Lions to be the backup to Jared Goff. The move reunites him with Lions head coach Dan Campbell, who was an offensive coach with the New Orleans Saints when Bridgewater was with the NFC South team.

Bridgewater signing with the Lions seemed inevitable.

Detroit had offered Bridgewater a contract in April. They worked him out in July. It seemed to only be a matter of time before he signed with the organization.

Bridgewater comes to Detroit after spending last season with the Miami Dolphins. He passed for four touchdowns and four interceptions while appearing in five games. The 30-year-old backed up Tua Tagovailoa last season and is set to back up Goff.

Though he is now a backup, Bridgewater has plenty of starting experience.

The 2014 first-round pick has started 65 games during his NFL career, going 33-32. His best work as a backup came when he went 5-0 filling in for Drew Brees with the 2019 Saints. Bridgewater threw for nine touchdowns and two interceptions that season.

In addition to Goff and now Bridgewater, the Lions have Nate Sudfeld and Hendon Hooker as some of their quarterbacks.
