Former Tennessee Vols quarterback Joe Milton is expected to be selected in the later rounds of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Milton has all the physical traits that NFL scouts drool over. But he struggled with consistency at times during his college career (at Michigan and Tennessee), which is the main reason why he's expected to fall in the draft, despite his impressive physical abilities.

The latest 2024 NFL mock draft from Pro Football Network has Milton landing in a great situation with a Vols fan favorite.

PFN has the Kansas City Chiefs selecting Milton with the No. 228 overall selection (Round 7) in the draft.

Former Tennessee offensive lineman Trey Smith, a favorite of Vols fans, is currently a starting guard for the Chiefs. Milton missed being teammates with Smith by one year at Tennessee, but the two are undoubtedly familiar with each other.

Not only would landing with the Chiefs mean that Milton would be teammates with Smith, but perhaps more importantly, it means he'd get to watch Patrick Mahomes up close. Mahomes is a unicorn in the way he plays, but his work ethic and competitiveness is second to none. Getting the chance to learn from a three-time Super Bowl MVP would be incredibly beneficial for Milton (or any young quarterback).

Milton, by the way, wouldn't be the first former Vol quarterback to be teammates with Mahomes. Former Tennessee quarterback Tyler Bray was teammates with Mahomes in Kansas City in 2017 (Mahomes' rookie season).
