Derrick Henry landing with the Baltimore Ravens might be the perfect free agency fit of this offseason , but the Tennessee Titans now have a major void to fill in the backfield.

During the NFL Annual Meeting, Titans head coach Brian Callahan tackled the notion of replacing Henry head on, like many linebackers and defensive backs have tried to do over the years.

Tennessee Titans’ Plan For Life After Derrick Henry

In the wake of Henry’s thunderous runs now originating in the Ravens’ backfield alongside Lamar Jackson, the Tennessee Titans are looking to strike with electrifying duo Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears out of the backfield.

“That’s a pretty formidable one-two punch,” Callahan told reporters during the annual NFL meetings last week. “Two guys that both can score touchdowns, they got some explosiveness and make-you-miss in their game and catch the ball out of the backfield.”

Pollard lands with the Titans on the heels of rushing for 1,005 yards during the 2023 campaign, his second consecutive 1,000-yard-plus rushing season.

Meanwhile, for Callahan, his maiden voyage as an NFL head coach will feature a new-look backfield while looking to develop second-year second-round pick Will Levis at quarterback.

Suppose the Tennessee Titans are going to take pressure off Levis, while leaning on the running game. In that case, Callahan believes that Pollard and Spears can combine to replicate much of the success Henry delivered the Titans, who leaves just two years removed from winning the rushing crown.

“You have two guys who are really sort of interchangeable,” Callahan added. “Both with a little bit different skillsets, that I think really add something unique to the offense.”
