Terrell Owens breaks down playoff struggles of Cowboys' Dak Prescott

Former Dallas Cowboys superstar wide receiver and Hall of Famer Terrell Owens recently spoke with Betway Insider about the playoff struggles endured by Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott throughout Prescott's career.

"Over the last few years, outside of personality, a lot of the success of a quarterback and obviously the team, comes down to decision-making," Owens explained while speaking about Prescott. "That's what has been his Achilles heel into these playoffs and throughout this season, but this has been his best season thus far as a quarterback."

According to ESPN stats, Prescott ended this past regular season leading the NFL with 36 touchdown passes and ranked second among qualified players with both a 72.7 adjusted QBR and a 105.9 passer rating.

However, the 30-year-old tossed a pair of costly interceptions, including one returned for a score, in Dallas' home 48-32 wild-card playoff loss to the Green Bay Packers that dropped Prescott's career postseason record to 2-5.

"The offensive coordinator is putting those plays into the fold so Dak has to make sure that he makes the best decisions based on those play calls," Owens noted. "That's where he's fallen short. I don't think he's a bad quarterback. Look at what CeeDee Lamb did as a receiver, by far his best season as a Cowboy. All these things come into play. But again, decision-making has been the Achilles heel for Dak Prescott."

Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones is running it back with Mike McCarthy as head coach and likely will soon reward Prescott with a contract extension that will lower the quarterback's salary-cap hit for 2024 and keep his rights attached to the club for at least the next couple of seasons.

While Prescott certainly has the physical attributes needed to win massive January games, Owens indicated the veteran of eight seasons still needs to learn when it is best to avoid making risky passes that often lead to turnovers.
