The Houston Texans are getting a closer look at former Pittsburgh Steelers defensive back Tre Norwood, bringing him in for a workout ahead of their Week 3 game, according to KPRC2's Aaron Wilson.

Norwood has worked out for several teams since his release from the Steelers, but has yet to sign to another roster or practice squad. The former seventh-round pick played 32 games for Pittsburgh, including six starts, and contributed 61 tackles, four pass deflections and an interception in two seasons.

Norwood came into the summer competing for the starting nickelback spot with Elijah Riley, Chandon Sullivan and Duke Dawson. He was struct with a leg injury that kept him sidelined for most of the preseason, which, unfortunately, left him on the outside looking in during the final roster cuts.

The former Oklahoma Sooner has experience playing cornerback, nickel and safety in the NFL, and has always been credited as one of the smarter players on the field. When he arrived in Pittsburgh, many compared him to their former cornerback Cam Sutton because of his ability to be so versatile.
