Texans cut one-time Pro Bowl RB Phillip Lindsay

Less than one month after trading Mark Ingram to the New Orleans Saints, the Houston Texans have now removed another member of their season-long running back-by-committee group.

After going undrafted in 2018, Lindsay signed with the Denver Broncos, where he spent his first three seasons. Lindsay recorded 192 rushing attempts for 1,037 yards and nine touchdowns on the ground in 15 games as a rookie, while adding 35 receptions for 241 yards and one more score through the air.

The 27-year-old earned a Pro Bowl nod in 2018 and followed it up with another 1,000-yard rushing season in 2019. That year, Lindsay posted 1,011 rushing yards and seven scores on 224 carries in 16 games, while contributing 35 receptions for 196 yards as well.

The University of Colorado product was limited to just 11 games in 2020, but still registered 502 rushing yards and one touchdown via 118 rushing attempts. Through 10 games with Houston in 2021, Lindsay ranked second on the team in rushing attempts (92), but third in rushing yards at just 130 and only scored one touchdown on a paltry 2.6 yards per carry.
