The Houston Texans' offensive line sustained another injury during Sunday's 15-13 loss to the Carolina Panthers. The Texans carted rookie center Jarrett Patterson off the field after he sustained an ankle injury midway through the fourth quarter.

Coach DeMeco Ryans did not have an update following the game. But the potential loss of Patterson could impact the Texans moving forward.

"We are hoping for the best," Ryans said. "He has been a rock for us in the middle with a lot of guys moving in and out. Jarrett has been that consistent guy in the middle. He has done a great job of what we have asked him to do."

Patterson entered training camp as the Texans' third-string center. However, injuries to Scott Quessenberry and Juice Scruggs forced Patterson into the starting lineup.

Patterson has since started the first seven games and has put together a successful start to his pro career. According to Pro Football Focus, Patterson has recorded an overall grade of 60.1 while being one of two offensive linemen who has not given up a sack in Houston. The other is Tytus Howard.

"You are talking about a smart guy," Ryans said. "He has been able to communicate, get guys in the right spots — we put a lot on our center. For him to step in after not playing much throughout training camp, you forget that he is a rookie. He has done some really good things for us."

When the Texans departed from Bank of America Stadium, Patterson left in a walking booth, per the Houston Chronicle.
