Texans not adding a new QB to the roster 'at this time'

Rookie quarterback Davis Mills is starting for the Houston Texans with veteran Tyrod Taylor on injured reserve because of a hurt hamstring, and the first-year pro had a day to forget in Sunday's 40-0 loss to the Buffalo Bills. Mills completed 11 of 21 passes for 87 yards, zero touchdowns and four interceptions in the defeat, and his lackluster performance led to a reporter asking head coach David Culley on Monday if Houston is considering adding another arm to the quarterback room.

"Not at this time," Culley responded, per Myles Simmons of Pro Football Talk. Culley added that Taylor hopefully will be "back here in the next couple of weeks."

Taylor is not eligible to return until after this coming Sunday's matchup against the New England Patriots. Both Houston and New England will enter that contest at 1-3 on the season.

It was reported last week that wantaway Houston quarterback Deshaun Watson is not close to being traded despite conflicting stories about his potential future. Watson is still facing 22 lawsuits alleging acts of sexual assault and misconduct and 10 criminal complaints but has not yet been placed on the commissioner's exempt list or suspended, meaning he could be shipped to a new team before the Nov. 2 trade deadline and then play for that organization unless his status changes before that time. As of now, Watson is a paid inactive player with the Texans each week.
