Texans passed on Earl Thomas after players made push to keep him out?

Reporters originally believed last week that the Houston Texans were very close to signing troubled safety Earl Thomas. That didn't happen, though, and it's not because the coaching staff or management didn't want him.

Numerous Texans players reportedly expressed their displeasure about bringing Thomas into their locker room, according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, which resulted in Bill O'Brien passing on the former Baltimore Raven.

Thomas had a tremendous career with the Seattle Seahawks, but unfortunately, the two sides had an ugly falling out. He spent one season with the Ravens before being having his contract terminated during training camp this year.

Thomas was "not well-liked" by his teammates in Baltimore. The 31-year-old, apparently, had a pattern of being late and was confronted about his readiness after committing multiple errors in practice. He also threw a punch at teammate Chuck Clark, which likely caused things to reach the breaking point.

The safety position has been a concern for the Texans for some time now, but even with an 0-3 record this season, players still weren't willing to bring in a troubled Thomas.
