The Houston Texans already have a pair of dynamic wide receivers in Nico Collins and Tank Dell, so you wouldn’t think they would prioritize the position in free agency.

However, the Texans have expansive cap room entering the offseason, so they can afford to spend some money on another wide out while still filling other holes.

That’s why Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports has pegged Houston as a destination for Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Marquise Brown.

Brown is going to be one of the more interesting pass-catchers available once free agency kicks off next month. He isn’t a No. 1 guy, but Brown has the potential to become a difference-maker in a contender’s offense.

There was a time a few seasons ago when Brown looked to be breaking out.

During his final year with the Baltimore Ravens in 2021, Brown hauled in 91 receptions for 1,008 yards and six touchdowns and seemed primed to continue his ascension in the years to come.

But that ensuing offseason, Brown asked to be traded, and the Ravens obliged by sending him to the Cardinals. His production has plummeted ever since.

This past season, Brown played in 14 games and logged 51 catches for 574 yards (a career low) and four scores. In his debut campaign with Arizona in 2022, he caught 67 passes for 709 yards while reaching the end zone three times.

To be fair to Brown, he hasn’t had a consistent presence at quarterback with the Cardinals, as Kyler Murray tore his ACL in the back half of 2022, resulting in a whole lot of different signal-callers in the desert over the last couple of seasons.

Perhaps a change of scenery would do him a whole lot of good, and C.J. Stroud might be the exact quarterback that he needs.

If Brown is your No. 3 receiver, you have one heck of a receiving corps, and that is what he would be behind Collins and Dell in Houston.
