The Houston Texas are signing former Pittsburgh Steelers defensive lineman Khalil Davis, according to a report by Aaron Wilson of KRPC Houston.

Davis, the twin brother of fellow former Steelers defensive lineman Carlos Davis, played with the Birmingham Stallions of the USFL this spring, playing in nine games and making two starts. He recorded 29 tackles and one sack. He helped the Stallions win the USFL Championship and was rated as one of the top defensive tackles in the league, with a PFF grade of 77.5.

Last fall, Davis spent time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Los Angeles Rams after being released by the Steelers. He did not play in an NFL regular season game last season.

The Steelers signed Davis to their practice squad in November 2021, and then re-signed him to a reserve/future contract for the 2022 season. He played in three preseason games with the Steelers last fall, recording two tackles, but both he and his brother were released on Aug. 30.

A 6-foot-1, 308-pound defensive lineman, Davis also went to Nebraska alongside his brother. He was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL Draft, one round before the Steelers drafted Carlos.

Davis has played in three career games, two in his first stint with Tampa Bay and one with Indianapolis in 2021. He has two career tackles.
The Steelers will play the Texans in Houston in Week 4 on Sunday, Oct. 1. Full Steelers 2023 schedule.
