Texans taking Deshaun Watson situation 'one day at a time'

Houston Texans star quarterback Deshaun Watson is participating in training camp sessions amid reports he wishes to be traded and also as he faces 22 lawsuits alleging acts of sexual assault and misconduct and 10 criminal complaints.

The NFL released a statement Tuesday clarifying that Watson currently has "no restrictions" as it pertains to working out with any club, and Houston general manager Nick Caserio acknowledged the existence of that statement and added the Texans are taking things "one day at a time" regarding Watson's future without saying much else of note on Wednesday:

The truth of the matter is that Caserio likely didn't offer further inside information because neither he, Watson, nor anybody else associated with the Texans has any such news as of Wednesday afternoon. While the NFL's recent update states Watson can attend training camp workouts now, it suggests the league could place the 25-year-old on paid leave pending any further developments at any time.

Both the Houston Police Department and NFL are investigating what the league called "serious allegations," and it remains likely no team will offer much of value for Watson without some sort of guarantee he won't be on the commissioner's exempt list by the opening week of the regular season in September.
