The Houston Texans hired DeMeco Ryans as their new head coach on Tuesday, and with that, turnover in the staff was inevitable.

And now, those changes have officially begun, with the Texans requesting an interview with Cincinnati Bengals wide receivers coach, Troy Walters, for the offensive coordinator position.

Walters will be interviewing to replace Pep Hamilton, whose offense ranked near the bottom in every major statistical category in the NFL last season.

After spending the first 11 years of his career coaching in college, Walters began coaching in the NFL in 2020 with Cincinnati as the assistant wide receivers coach.

In 2021, he was promoted to the role of wide receivers coach, taking over for Bob Bicknell.

With the help of Walters, the Bengals ranked fifth in the NFL in passing, averaging 265 yards per game, with the offense also ranking seventh in the league in scoring, averaging 26.1 points per game.

Under Walters, the Bengals also developed arguably the best wide receiver corps in the NFL with Ja'Marr Chase, Tyler Boyd, and Tee Higgins.

Chase in particular emerged as one of the top pass-catchers in the league since the arrival of Walters, catching 168 passes on 262 targets for 2,501 yards and 22 touchdowns in just two seasons.
