The Kansas City Chiefs are dealing with some changes leading into the 2022 NFL season.

They won’t have franchise stalwarts Tyreek Hill and Tyrann Mathieu anymore.

Their departures may have a profound impact on both sides of the ball.

However, the Chiefs showed decent fight during their preseason game against the Chicago Bears.

Still, that’s not an accurate indication of how they will fare for 2022.

But they continue to improve their roster by adding another figure on defense.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter tweeted, “Chiefs officially have signed veteran NT Danny Shelton.”

Terms of the deal have not been disclosed but they brought in Shelton to beef up their pass rush.

With the NFL being a pass-happy league, stopping the opposing team’s quarterback is also a premium.

The Chiefs added him to be of help to Chris Jones and Frank Clark.

Shelton was the 12th overall selection in the 2015 NFL Draft and played for the Cleveland Browns until 2017.

He was then traded to the New England Patriots for a 2019 third-round pick and helped the squad win a Super Bowl.

He also played for the Detroit Lions and New York Giants before suiting up for the Chiefs.

Who’s On Kansas City’s Defense?

The position he will play is still not certain because he is a nose tackle and the Chiefs use a base 4-3 defense.

They still have Clark and Jones, with Mike Danna and Derrick Nnadi upfront.

Kansas City also signed two-time Pro Bowler Carlos Dunlap.

Willie Gay and Nick Bolton lead the linebackers.

Justin Reid will take over the spot that Mathieu vacated.

Trent McDuffie and L’Jarius Sneed man the cornerback positions.

The Chiefs hope that Shelton will make a profound impact on their 2022 campaign.
