The Indianapolis Colts wanted their 3rd round selection so much so that they decided to trade up.

After trading up, the Colts selected Pittsburgh offensive lineman Matt Goncalves.

Goncalves redshirted his first season at Pittsburgh in 2019 and, in 2020, was named a Freshman All-American. His third playing year in 2022 was his only year starting a full season in college, with eight starts at right tackle and five coming on the left side. He went on to earn a Third Team All-ACC honor after not allowing a single sack and only allowing 5 QB hits on the year. Last year, he was named a team captain and was named the team's starting LT. Unfortunately, his college career would be cut short by a season-ending injury after just appearing in three games.

In total, Goncalves played 791 offensive snaps over the past three years and only allowed three sacks, all of which came in 2021. Before the injury, he was a player multiple scouts were expecting a big season from last year, and who knows how high he could have ended up being drafted. He now joins the Colts, where he will be able to compete at both tackle and guard as a priority depth piece, and he could very well develop into a future starter for the team.
