The Los Angeles Chargers dominated headlines when they dealt Keenan Allen to the Chicago Bears. It seemingly came out of nowhere.

According to Daniel Popper, it had been discussed for longer than folks previously thought.

The Chargers offered Keenan Allen an extension before trading him to the Bears.

The Chargers made a strong attempt to keep their star wideout, but it did not work out. Not to mention, their offers did involve a pay cut. Allen wasn't interested in that, and you cannot blame him for that.

Allen's agent, Joby Branion, responded to the report of multiple options from Los Angeles.

Due to cap space decisions, trying to get Allen to take a payout should not shock anyone. It is a shame, though. Many fans expected Allen to retire a Charger.

He's one of the best receivers in franchise history.
