After three days off, the San Francisco 49ers returned to the practice field on Monday. However, the team is still missing several key players as it prepares for Sunday's regular-season opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
According to several reports, including Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle, the following players did not suit up for Monday's bonus session.
- DE Robert Beal (hamstring)
- LB Oren Burks (knee)
- S Tashaun Gipson (undisclosed)
- WR Danny Gray (shoulder)
- TE George Kittle (groin strain)
- RB Jordan Mason (foot sprain)
- WR Ray-Ray McCloud (broken wrist)
All except Beal and Gray were seen getting some work on a side field. Those two players are on the team's injured reserve list. Obviously, defensive end Nick Bosa was no in attendance. He continues his holdout for a new contract.
The following players returned to practice.
- LB Dre Greenlaw (hamstring)
- S Talanoa Hufanga (knee)
Below are some jersey number updates, per Matt Barrows of The Athletic.
- QB Brandon Allen is now No. 17 (was 4)
- DE Robert Beal is now No. 51 (was 55)
49ers players will have Tuesday off. On Wednesday, the team will begin its first normal game-week practice schedule of the regular season, with three consecutive days of practices. San Francisco will issue official injury reports for each of those practices.
