These numbers reveal Josh Jacobs' importance to Raiders

Without Josh Jacobs, the Raiders might be an even bigger dumpster fire.

In Las Vegas' four wins, Jacobs averages 198 yards in total offense. In its seven losses, he averages 99. Seven of his nine touchdowns have come in Raiders wins.

The fourth-year running back averages 135 yards of offense per game and leads the league in rushing yards (1,159) and first downs (67).

Las Vegas expected huge production from the passing game this season featuring the former collegiate duo of Derek Carr and Davante Adams. The Raiders obviously undervalued their workhorse in the backfield.

In the offseason, Las Vegas declined to give Jacobs his fifth-year option. The 24-year-old has since played his best football, posting career highs in rushing yards and yards per game on his fewest number of touches.

The workload may be taking its toll.

The Athletic's Tashan Reed reported Jacobs "was a limited participant during the walkthrough Wednesday" with a calf injury. He dealt with injuries last season, missing two games due to toe and ankle injuries.

If active, Jacobs could have another big game Sunday against the Chargers.

Los Angeles allows the most yards per carry (5.4) in the NFL and has given up the sixth-most rushing yards (1,665).

Expect Jacobs to get more than the 11 touches he had in a 24-19 loss to the Chargers in Week 1.
