The NFL draft is officially less than a week away and what the Houston Texans with the second overall pick is not any clearer than it was before. Some rumors link them to a quarterback while others link them to defense or even a potential trade down.

When they're on the clock, though, the growing consensus has become that they must decide if Ohio State's C.J. Stroud is the guy to lead them at quarterback. If he isn't, well, then they go another route.

There is plenty of debate about passing on a quarterback and whether or not the Texans should. While that debate will likely continue until draft night, Hall of Fame quarterback Kurt Warner ripped the idea of the Texans not going quarterback with the second overall pick.

"They're crazy! You have to restart your program with a guy at the quarterback position," Warner said. "A guy that you believe can win for you, and so when you're the No. 2 pick in the draft then you're in that position."

"Unless you just don't believe one of these guys can be that guy, but I believe there's a guy in that mix at No. 2 that Houston has to go get."

Whether Stroud is available at No. 2 or it is Alabama's Bryce Young, if the Texans think he's their guy then they should not hesitate to pull the trigger. If they aren't that confident, though, trading back to gain more draft capital and potentially go for a quarterback next season is a plan they must seriously consider.
