This NFL team has the longest odds to make the playoffs

The start of the NFL season may be a week away, but that doesn't stop fans from looking ahead to colder months and guessing who will be punching their postseason ticket.

Everyone knows the teams that are favored to make the playoffs. The Chiefs, the Eagles, the Bills, the 49ers -- you get the idea. But what about the teams that oddsmakers don't think will make it past Week 18?

Let's take an early look at who has the longest odds to make the NFL playoffs this season.

According to DraftKings, the Arizona Cardinals have the longest odds at making the playoffs at +1100 on the money line. For context: The only NFC team with a worse record than the Cardinals last season was the Chicago Bears, and they are listed at +155 odds to make the playoffs this year.

So why is DK so low on Arizona? Probably because the team is entering their 2023 campaign with a ton of uncertainty. In addition to having a new head coach in Jonathan Gannon, starting quarterback Kyler Murray is starting the season on the PUP list and the organization parted ways with Colt McCoy, which means that Josh Dobbs -- who doesn't have legitimate starting experience -- will be under center for at least the first four weeks of the season.

And it isn't completely clear what weapons Dobbs will be working with, either. Tight end Zach Ertz is returning from a knee injury and the only Cardinals player to factor into the top 50 in receiving yards last season was DeAndre Hopkins, who now plays for the Tennessee Titans.

Even if Arizona somehow defies the odds, it is going to be a very interesting start to the season for this playoff long shot.

Other teams with longer odds than most to make the playoffs this season are the Houston Texans (+475), Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+400) and the Indianapolis Colts (+350).

The 2023 NFL season opens up on Thursday, Sept. 7.
