Three long reception props for Week 3 in the NFL

The NFL market is opening up early ahead of Week 3, and three players in good spots for a big play are available to bet.

Let's get right to the looks.

Justin Jefferson over 28.5 longest reception (-115 DK)

After two weeks, Detroit has solidified itself as the same secondary that was so often gashed for big plays in 2021. The Lions have allowed seven passes of 20+ yards, tied for ninth-most, and they also rank inside the top 10 of opponent's yards per attempt and defensive average depth of target (DADOT).

In Week 3, we get a chance to bet on one of the best receivers in football, as Justin Jefferson and the Vikings host Detroit.

Jefferson had five 20+ yard catches in Week 1 before being quieted by Darius Slay on "Monday Night Football," but a bounce-back feels imminent.

Detroit has had its difficulties slowing down the opponent's top receiver. In Week 1, AJ Brown broke off a 54-yard catch, and Week 2 saw Terry McLaurin get open deep for 35 yards.

Jefferson has owned the Lions in his young career, registering a 35+ yard catch in all four matchups thus far. It doesn't get much better than this folks.

Brandin Cooks over 22.5 longest reception (-115 DK)

The Chicago Bears were a highlighted target secondary before the season began, and they've picked up right where they left off. The Bears have seen seven passes of 20+ yards thrown against them, all of which have come from the receiver position.

In slots Brandin Cooks of the Texans, who has been Davis Mills' favorite target once again. Cooks has 22 targets in two games, which include four targets that traveled 20+ yards down the field. Cooks has broken off three 20+ yard catches in two weeks, with a 25+ yard catch in both games.

Cooks is over this number in his last five games and should be able to keep it moving against a soft Chicago defense.

Davante Adams over 24.5 longest reception (-120 DK)

After seeing Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs torch this Titans defense on "MNF," it's clear that the Tennessee defense we so often targeted in 2021 for long plays is still a viable option for us.

Tennessee is allowing opponents to average 7.7 yards per attempt after two weeks, the fifth-highest number in the NFL. Last season, the Titans' 65 passes allowed of 20+ yards were fourth-most in the NFL.

Naturally, we turn to Las Vegas's top receiver in Davante Adams, who has seen 24 targets from Derek Carr in his first two games as a Raider. He also rarely leaves the field, playing all but five offensive snaps thus far. Adams sports a 12.2 ADOT and has seen five targets 20+ yards down the field.

He was stifled against the Cardinals last week but broke off a 41-yarder against the Chargers in Week 1, one of three 20+ yard catches he had in the game.

Last season, Adams never stayed under this 24.5 total in back-to-back weeks. Yes, it's a new team, but the same volume is there, and Adams is too talented to be stifled for long.

Week 3 is looking good for long plays. We are not done in this market.
