The news of former New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley agreeing to jump ship this offseason and join one of their biggest rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles, has garnered plenty of attention throughout the NFL. However, all the responses to the move have not been of the positive, well-wishing variety.

Former Super Bowl-winning running back of the Giants, Tiki Barber, is one of those individuals who is less than thrilled that Barkley has elected to take his talents to one of the franchise’s biggest rivals. When addressing the fellow former New York running back’s farewell to the franchise, Barber waved it off and had this just say.

“You’re dead to me. You’re dead to us,” said Barber on WFAN Sports Radio.

You can check out the longtime New York Giants star running back’s complete response in the video below.

Barkley has since responded to Barber’s comments with this post on his social media account.

“Tiki Barber lol yup you’re the prime example of loyalty to a team.. I got the deal I wanted, secured more gm which wasn’t given to me before… so if fans are gonna hate me for that so be it! But I never turned my back on my teammates and always had theirs,” said Barkley via X.

As Barkley pointed out to his fellow former New York Giants running back, his new deal with the Eagles eclipses the offer given to him by his former franchise and guaranteed money. At the end of the day, the former Penn State star did what he felt was in his best interest and went with the franchise that offered him the best deal and desired situation. It may not make everyone happy, but it appears Barkley is just fine with it.

Barkley’s deal with the Eagles

According to Adam Schefter, Barkley has agreed in principle to a three-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles. The former first-rounder will leave the Giants for the NFC East rivals on a contract that will pay him $37.75 million, with $26 million guaranteed. It’s the biggest deal for a free agent running back so far this offseason and it puts him over the franchise tag number.

The second overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft out of Penn State, Saquon Barkley was a dominant force for the New York Giants from the time he entered the league. That included being the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2018 and going to two Pro Bowls.

Last season, Saquon Barkley rushed for 962 yards in 14 games with six touchdowns. He also had 41 receptions for 280 yards and four touchdowns.
