The Tennessee Titans made a surprising move Tuesday to waive Adrian Peterson.

It ended the short run for the veteran running back in town after he came in as a replacement for Derrick Henry.

But with the subtraction came another addition.

The Titans are continuing to shuffle the roster and that means giving veteran receiver Golden Tate another shot in the NFL.

He is only on the practice squad for now, but this signing should signal he sees the active roster sooner than later.

A Fresh Start For Tate

The Titans need some help at receiver in 2021.

A.J. Brown is dealing with an injury and Julio Jones has failed to live up the hype that comes along with his name.

Jones has played in six games, hauling in 21 catches for 336 yards.

That is not what the Titans had in mind when they acquired him.

The 336 yards also puts him second on the team behind Brown, who has 615 yards.

Tennessee wants to be a run-first team, but that has become much more difficult with Henry out for likely the remainder of the regular season.

Tate now shows up after two forgettable seasons with the New York Giants.

He was openly disgruntled with the organization and finished 2020 with only 388 yards and two touchdowns.

That led him to being released by the Giants this past offseason.

Tate may have been waiting for the perfect opportunity and lands on a Titans team that has Super Bowl aspirations in 2021.

They just need to find the right pieces to plug the holes on their roster.

It will just be important for him to show his talent fast, because he have already seen the team cut Peterson after what appeared to be a flashy signing.
