TMZ: Brett Hundley sued by ex-wife over allegations of abuse

On Tuesday evening, TMZ Sports reported current Arizona Cardinals quarterback Brett Hundley is being sued by his ex-wife over allegations of abuse.

According to TMZ, a woman named in the lawsuit as Hundley's former wife claims that he physically assaulted her multiple times from 2016 through 2017, that he gave her a sexually transmitted disease as "the result of alleged extramarital sexual activity," and that she filed for divorce in 2018.

In November 2018, celebrity news website The Blast reported Hundley's then-wife was leaving him because of "irreconcilable differences."
TMZ received no answer from the Hundley camp when asked for the comment. The site also added the following about the lawsuit:

The accuser is suing for battery, domestic violence, emotional distress and negligence ... but the problem she might face is the typical statute of limitations for her causes of action are between 2 and 3 years, and the most recent allegation of abuse in the lawsuit falls OUTSIDE of that window.

The Green Bay Packers drafted Hundley out of UCLA in the fifth round of the 2015 NFL Draft to serve as a backup to future Hall of Fame signal-caller Aaron Rodgers. Hundley has also spent time with the Seattle Seahawks and, most recently, the Cardinals.

His best appearance in an Arizona uniform, to date, occurred last December in a Week 16 contest versus the Seahawks. Hundley replaced injured Arizona starter Kyler Murray and performed admirably during a backbreaking nine-play, 78-yard touchdown drive that secured a win over his previous employer.

Earlier this year, the Cardinals retained the 26-year-old on a one-year contract.
