Tom Brady buys ownership stake in WNBA team

Mark Davis has an agreement with Tom Brady. But it is not to be quarterback of his NFL team. Instead, it is to be his business partner after the seven-time Super Bowl winning quarterback bought an ownership stake in the WNBA's Las Vegas Aces.

Davis and the Aces made the announcement on Thursday evening.

“I am very excited to be part of the Las Vegas Aces organization,” said Brady in a statement released by the team.

“My love for women’s sports began at a young age when I would tag along to all my older sisters’ games—They were by far the best athletes in our house! We celebrated their accomplishments together as a family, and they remain a great inspiration to me. I have always been a huge fan of women’s sports, and I admire the work that the Aces’ players, staff and the WNBA continue to do to grow the sport and empower future generations of athletes. To be able to contribute in any way to that mission as a member of the Aces organization is an incredible honor.”

The Aces relocated to Vegas from San Antonio prior to the 2018 season, and were originally based in Utah between 1997 and 2002.

Davis purchased the Aces in 2021, with the team winning the WNBA title in 2022 led by first-year coach Becky Hammon.

This is not Brady's first dive into the ownership side of sports. He is also one of several prominent athletes to buy a stake in a professional pickleball team back in October. That team will begin play later in 2023.
