Tom Brady hopes Aaron Rodgers gets 'time and space' to mull NFL future

Tom Brady knows a thing or two about retiring from the NFL and perhaps making snap decisions.

He recently insinuated that when he retired after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers lost to the Los Angeles Rams in the 2021-22 playoffs he rushed to that decision — perhaps even as soon as the day after the loss.

Brady, obviously, recanted on his decision to retire, and whether he regrets that or not after an 8-9 season, his team is at the very least in the playoffs.

One legendary quarterback who won't be in the playoffs this year, though, is Aaron Rodgers, whose 8-9 Packers missed the playoffs thanks to a 20-16 home loss to the ascending Detroit Lions.

Rodgers has considered retirement over the past few seasons, and he's seemingly in a position Brady knows well. From what we know, Rodgers hasn't asked the seven-time Super Bowl Champion his advice, but Brady offered some recently on his podcast, "Let’s Go! With Tom Brady, Larry Fitzgerald and Jim Gray."

“Aaron, in my belief, is spectacular. He can obviously continue to play, and he has all the ability in the world to do that. And there’s a lot of other things that come into play and he’ll make that decision when it’s right for him. And everyone should give him the time and space to do it," Brady said, via Sports Illustrated

Brady and Rodgers are different people, of course. Brady, as evidenced by his championships, is the ultimate competitor who lives, breathes and eats NFL football. He stayed retired for only a month.

Rodgers, while a competitor himself, seemingly has interests outside of football and he has the talent and money to pursue those interests. Whether it be hosting "Jeopardy!" or going on an ayahuasca retreat, one gets the sense that if Rodgers does hang it up this offseason, he'll remain retired for good.
