Tom Brady 'not opposed' to Michael Jordan-like comeback

Tom Brady has been retired for just one season, and now it sounds like he misses being a part of the action every Sunday in the fall.

Brady, who turns 47 in August, was asked on the "DeepCut with VicBlends" podcast if he'd answer the call should a starting quarterback go down and a team needs a new QB1 for a playoff push. Brady mentioned the New England Patriots and Las Vegas Raiders, saying, "You never know."

Brady even dropped a Michael Jordan reference, who came out of retirement twice in his career.

"I'm not opposed to it. I don't know if they're gonna let me if I become an owner of an NFL team," Brady explained. "I don't know. I'm always gonna be in good shape, always be able to throw the ball. To come in for a little bit like MJ coming back. I don't know if they'd let me, but I wouldn't be opposed to it."

Brady's comments come with caveats and hurdles beyond the fact he's nearing 50 years old. He agreed last May to join the Raiders' ownership group, but it's still pending league approval, with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell saying last month that it's "making progress." If Brady were to become a minority owner in Las Vegas, he couldn't play for an NFL team, as players are barred from owning equity in an NFL franchise.

Then there's his broadcast deal with Fox, which is set to begin this NFL season. Brady signed a 10-year, $375 million contract to become their lead game analyst. That's a lot of money to pass up and a much less demanding afternoon than getting bludgeoned by NFL defenders.

The odds seem heavily against Brady unretiring to chase an eighth Super Bowl ring. However, the odds have been stacked against him since he was selected in the sixth round of the 2000 NFL Draft. No quarterback has had Brady's longevity and continuous dominance, and if there's anyone that shouldn't be counted out, it's him. Just don't hold your breath about Brady suiting up this fall.
