Tom Brady now hinting he could play until he's 55?

The reigning Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers improved to 5-1 on the season via their Thursday night 28-22 win at the Philadelphia Eagles, and Tampa Bay starting quarterback Tom Brady kept himself in Most Valuable Player conversations for at least another week. Per ESPN stats, the ageless Brady enters the weekend of Week 6 leading the NFL with 2,064 passing yards, 17 touchdown throws, 183 completions and 267 attempts. The 44-year-old sits sixth among eligible signal-callers with a 107.9 passer rating, and he's fourth with a 66.2 total QBR.

Last month, Brady teased that he could continue playing in the league beyond his 50th birthday. As Mike Florio noted for Pro Football Talk, the seven-time champion was thinking even bigger during a pregame conversation with Hannah Storm and Andrea Kremer of Amazon.

"I really think I can play as long as I want," Brady explained. "I really do. I could literally play until I’m 50 or 55 if I wanted to. I don’t think I will obviously . . . my physical body won’t be the problem. I think it’ll just be, I’m just missing too much of life with my family."

In late September, Brady mentioned his family as one reason he could ride off into the sunset after the 2023 campaign. Perhaps those close to him have said they don't want him to call time on his unprecedented career if he believes he can still win the biggest games on the sport's biggest stages.
