Tom Brady sounds committed to eventually joining Fox

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady may have poured cold water over suggestions saying he won't ever join Fox Sports' NFL broadcast team.

Per Justin Tasch of the New York Post, Brady told ESPN's Stephen A. Smith during Monday's edition of the "Let's Go!" SiriusXM show and podcast he's "looking forward to" joining Smith in the broadcasting industry.

"I’m really looking to learn from all the people that I get to talk to," Brady explained. "I get an opportunity to be in a job in the future where I get to travel around and learn from all the other people that I’ve looked up to and admired and different organizations and different people. So it’s exciting for me too. I feel like the opportunity to do that is something that I’m really looking forward to whenever that time comes."

Brady temporarily retired from playing last February but then announced his return to the Buccaneers for another season in March. It was subsequently learned that the seven-time Super Bowl champion will become Fox's lead NFL analyst via a 10-year deal reportedly worth $375 million whenever he calls time on his playing career.

Fox CEO Lachlan Murdoch said in May that it's "entirely up to" Brady when the signal-caller joins the network, but ESPN's Joe Buck and Sean Payton of Fox both expressed doubts during the fall that TB12 will ever make a transition from playing fields to broadcast booths on a full-time basis. On Monday, Brady previewed the type of commentator he could be for Fox as soon as this coming fall.

"I think the interesting thing about me is, in football, I have a very – it’s very black and white. It’s right or wrong. There’s strategies which are right or wrong," Brady said about how he breaks things down. "You’re not gonna get them right all the time, but there’s the right approach to take. When I watch it, I see who’s winging it and I see who’s got really detailed plans."

The Buccaneers reportedly want Brady back and believe he could spend another season as their QB1, but numerous stories have heavily linked the 45-year-old with the San Francisco 49ers this month. Brady hasn't yet publicly said if he'll remain an active player following a season that was uniquely difficult for multiple reasons.
