Tom Brady thinks Bill Belichick will 'go down as the greatest coach of all time'

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady has offered some high praise for New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick.

"He’s been an amazing coach that I got to play for for 20 years," Brady said of Belichick during Monday's edition of his "Let's Go!" SiriusXM program and podcast, according to Darren Hartwell of NBC Sports Boston. "He always has his team prepared. He works incredibly hard, and he’s incredibly deserving of all the accolades that go along with it. I’m really happy for him and none of his success really surprises me, getting a first-hand view of what he put into it every week for 20 years that I was there with him."

Brady made his comments after Belichick passed Chicago Bears legend George Halas for the second-most head coach wins in NFL history, playoffs included, with 325 via this past Sunday's 22-17 victory at the New York Jets.

Brady entered the league when the Patriots selected him with overall pick No. 199 in the 2000 draft. Together, he and Belichick won six Super Bowl titles until Brady signed with the Buccaneers in March 2020.

"He is a historian of the game," Brady added about Belichick during Monday's SiriusXM show. "I remember when I was there, we talked about Chicago Bears-Green Bay Packers. There were a lot of history lessons he would give the team to give you perspective on the history of football, history of coaching, history of playing, history of rivalries and games, and the founding of NFL teams because we all love football.

"He’s going to go down as the greatest coach of all time. He’s done an incredible job, certainly with the Patriots. ... He's an amazing coach."

Brady and the Buccaneers defeated Belichick and the Patriots 19-17 at Gillette Stadium in October 2021. The two sides are not scheduled to face each other this season.
