It was earlier reported that Rob Walton, heir of the Walmart fortune, might have emerged as the potential new owner of the Denver Broncos.

Pro Football Focus shared that the alleged sale was worth $4.5 billion.

However, ESPN’s NFL insider Adam Schefter settled the score regarding the Broncos’ sale.

Schefter tweeted, “Second-round bids to buy the Denver Broncos are due later today as the process continues to move along, per league sources. One source maintained today that, despite any speculation, no favorite has emerged at this time.’

Therefore, Walton hasn’t won the bid for the Broncos yet.

However, selling the franchise at $4.5 billion should boost the team’s value.

Last year, Forbes estimated the Broncos’ net worth at $3.75 billion, the tenth-highest in the NFL.

Whoever buys the Broncos will give the Pat Bowlen Trust a large sum of money.

Things Are Looking Up For The Broncos

The franchise’s sale can push through without roadblocks because the final legal impediment has been cleared.

A Denver district court judge ruled that the right of first refusal agreement between Pat Bowlen and former owner Edgar Kaiser is terminated in its entirety.

Therefore, Broncos President and CEO Joe Ellis can facilitate the transfer of ownership.

Meanwhile, the team is looking to compete with starting quarterback Russell Wilson.

They may have given a haul of draft picks to acquire the Pro Bowl play-caller.

However, he has the acumen to elevate the Broncos offense that has talented athletes in Melvin Gordon, Javonte Williams, Jerry Jeudy, Tim Patrick, and Courtland Sutton.

Likewise, new head coach Nathaniel Hackett will work with Wilson to inject some creativity into their system.

If everything goes well, the Broncos won’t have problems snapping their postseason drought that dates back to Super Bowl 50.
