Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift were absent from the 2024 Met Gala despite being invited to the major event. According to TMZ, the couple declined to attend the Met Gala because Swift is going back on the road for her Eras Tour.

TMZ says it’s not clear if Kelce already had plans but it’s safe to assume that he missed out on the event because Swift was not going to be there. Had the two attended the Met Gala, it would have been the first time they would have appeared on a red carpet as a couple.

Kelce and Swift have been seen together at public events over the last few months. Most recently, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end and the 14-time Grammy Award winner attended Coachella to watch Ice Spice perform.

Taylor Swift talks about supporting Travis Kelce at Chiefs games

Swift became the talk of the NFL when she first attended a Chiefs game in September to support Kelce. When speaking with Time magazine in December, Swift talked about the added attention she gets from the league when the Chiefs games are nationally televised.

“I don’t know how they know what suite I’m in,” she said. “There’s a camera, like, a half-mile away, and you don’t know where it is, and you have no idea when the camera is putting you in the broadcast, so I don’t know if I’m being shown 17 times or once. I’m just there to support Travis. I have no awareness of if I’m being shown too much and pi--ing off a few dads, Brads, and Chads.”

Swift also talked about how she began dating Kelce. “This all started when Travis very adorably put me on blast on his podcast, which I thought was metal as hell,” she said. “We started hanging out right after that. So we actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I’m grateful for because we got to get to know each other. By the time I went to that first game, we were a couple. I think some people think that they saw our first date at that game? We would never be psychotic enough to hard launch a first date.

“When you say a relationship is public, that means I’m going to see him do what he loves, we’re showing up for each other, other people are there and we don’t care.”
