What a difference a year has made for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

They finished the 2021 season with a league-worst 3-14 record to earn their second straight number one overall selection.

They used that pick this year to select Georgia’s Travon Walker.

A year ago, they were in the same spot and chose former Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence.

For now, things are going Jacksonville’s way after winning two of their first three games.

More importantly, Lawrence is showing the talent Jacksonville saw in him.

The NFL named Lawrence the American Football Conference’s Offensive Player of the Week in Week 3 of the 2022 season.

The second-year player completed 28 passes out of 39 attempts for 262 yards, three touchdowns, and zero interceptions.

More impressive is their 38-10 demolition of Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers.

It’s Lawrence’s second consecutive game without an interception, and he has completed 69.4 percent of his passes through three games.

His efforts enabled Christian Kirk, Zay Jones, and Marvin Jones to score receiving touchdowns.

James Robinson also had 100 rushing yards, while Travis Etienne tallied 75 total yards against the Chargers.

This victory follows the Jaguars’ 24-0 shutout of the Indianapolis Colts.

Lawrence and the Jaguars can go to 3-1 with a victory over the undefeated Philadelphia Eagles in Week 4.

The Transition Works Well For Lawrence

Aside from having more targets around him like Zay Jones and Kirk, Lawrence is also benefitting from the tutelage of new head coach Doug Pederson.

A former NFL quarterback himself, he is the best person to guide the young play-caller.

It shows in Lawrence’s performance, starting with his 275-yard, one-touchdown performance against the Washington Commanders.

Then, he followed that up by completing 83.3 percent of his passes for 235 yards and two touchdowns versus the Colts.
