Saturday night in Uptown New Orleans, the Tulane Green Wave football team will take the field against UMASS. Today via twitter the Green Wave reveal the week 1 uniforms.

Bringing out the all sky blue threads to start this season off. Blue pants, blue jerseys, and blue helmets to match. Usually Tulane wears white pants with the sky blue jerseys.

Before being known as the “Green Wave”, Tulane athletics were known as the “Olive and Blue” for 26 years from 1893 to 1919. The all sky blue uniforms were made to pay homage to the past.

The storied University has history dating back to 1834. This history is carried into each sport, with every new season garnering new history.

The fans today might not know where the University gets its ideas, or why exactly the logo is an angry wave. Yet, Tulane keeps the past prominent, allowing current and future fans to be a part of the history.

Today’s kid are being told by their parents and grand parents stories of watching the Tulane Green Wave. These kids will tell their children, and these all sky blue uniforms will be topics of conversations for generations to come.

Saturday night the Tulane Green Wave uniforms will shine under the bright lights in Uptown, New Orleans. Who is ready for some Green Wave Football, Roll Wave!
