The Pittsburgh Steelers are on the verge of adding two starters back to their defense this week as they near full recoveries from injury.

Both safety Minkah Fitzpatrick and Montravius Adams will practice this week, according to head coach Mike Tomlin and the Steelers are hopeful both will be able to return to the field this week against the Arizona Cardinals.

"Got the light on for Minkah and Mont Adams this week," Tomlin said. "Both guys will be participants on some level tomorrow and then we'll let the amount of participation and the quality of that participation be our guide as we lean in towards the latter part of the week, but cautiously optimistic about both."

Fitzpatrick has been sidelined since the first half of the Jaguars game in Week 8, when he suffered a hamstring injury. He's been slowly working his way back into practice over the past couple of weeks as he gets healthier.

Adams has been working through an ankle injury for the past three weeks after going down early against the Titans.

The Steelers are also monitoring injuries to Calvin Austin and Kenny Pickett. Both players have ankle injuries, but Tomlin is optimistic they'll be available for the game.
