Two-time Pro Bowl DE DeMarcus Lawrence wants to be with Cowboys 'for life'
Dallas Cowboys defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence has endured a roller-coaster ride of emotions since September, when he went down to a broken foot following the regular-season opener and remained sidelined until early December. Before the start of the new league year last week, the Cowboys reportedly asked the two-time Pro Bowl selection to take a pay cut, a request he refused before the sides agreed to a new three-year deal that guaranteed him $30 million but reduced his cap hit:
Per Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk, the 29-year-old spoke Thursday about why staying in Dallas meant more to him than potentially cashing-in elsewhere this spring.
"Being a Cowboy for life is always a dream," Lawrence explained. "I was blessed with the opportunity to do so. There is no reason why I would go against my aspirations and dream of being a Cowboy for life."
Lawrence first entered the NFL when the Cowboys selected him in the second round of the 2014 draft and has been associated only with the storied franchise since. He recorded three sacks, 21 total tackles and an interception returned for a touchdown across his seven regular-season contests this past campaign.
