Two-time Super Bowl champion Chris Hogan working out for Saints

While Chris Hogan made the move from football to lacrosse earlier this year, it appears he's not ready to give up playing in the NFL altogether.

According to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, Hogan, who is in the midst of his first Premier Lacross League season, is working out for the New Orleans Saints on Monday. The PLL is supportive of the former wide receiver's bid to get back into the NFL, Garafolo adds.

The Saints are in need of a wide receiver after Michael Thomas underwent ankle surgery in June and is expected to miss the early portion of the 2021 season.

In five games with the New York Jets last season, Hogan caught 14 passes for 118 yards. After a disappointing season, he opted to declare for the 2021 PLL Draft. Although he went undrafted, he signed a contract with the PLL and made the Cannons Lacrosse Club roster before being traded to the Whipsnakes Lacrosse Club.

Hogan, 33, won two Super Bowls with the New England Patriots. In 100 career games, he has caught 216 passes for 2,795 yards and 18 touchdowns.

While the Saints work out wide receivers, they also need to figure out their starting quarterback situation after Drew Brees announced his retirement this offseason. Either Taysom Hill or Jameis Winston will be throwing passes, and with training camps underway, we could find out Sean Payton's decision sooner rather than later.
