T.Y. Hilton 'gave up a lot of money' to re-sign with Colts

Four-time Pro Bowl wide receiver T.Y. Hilton tested free agency and reportedly had an opportunity to join the Baltimore Ravens. He ultimately returned to the Indianapolis Colts, his only NFL home since the 2012 draft, on a one-year contract that could be worth up to $10 million with $8 million guaranteed.

Per an ESPN story, Hilton gave the Colts somewhat of a discount.

"I wanted to stay here no matter what the cost was. I gave up a lot of money to stay here and that's what I wanted to do," the 31-year-old told reporters on Thursday.

Hilton will enter his 10th NFL season and touched upon what being a one-club man means to him.

"It's very special. Not many guys can say they did that. ... I love it here, so the moment I had to sign back here, it was only right," he explained.

Hilton also said that the 2021 campaign could be his last.

"After this one year, I'll reevaluate everything, see how my body's feeling. If I want to keep going, I'll keep going and if not, I'll hang it up," he said.

Hilton recorded 56 receptions for 762 yards and five touchdowns in 2020 and will now have the opportunity to play alongside new quarterback Carson Wentz, who was officially acquired by the Colts from the Philadelphia Eagles at the start of the new NFL year on March 17.

"He has some Andrew Luck traits," Hilton said of his new signal-caller. "He can get out of the pocket, make some incredible plays. He's a special talent."

The Ravens, meanwhile, landed former Kansas City Chiefs receiver Sammy Watkins.
