Tyrann Mathieu is a big fan of Jayden Daniels and supports his fellow LSU Tiger. However, he has a warning for when Daniels reaches the NFL.

Mathieu spoke after his New Orleans Saints beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 23-13 in Week 17 of the NFL season on Sunday. WAFB’s Jacques Doucet asked Mathieu for his thoughts on Daniels.

Mathieu was extremely complimentary of Daniels, pointing out how much the QB has improved.

“His growth from last year to this year was almost Joe Burrow-like. He really put the team on his back,” Mathieu said of Daniels, who won the Heisman Trophy this season.

Mathieu said he was wishing Daniels all the best in the future, but …

“Hopefully he don’t try me when he comes to the league. I’ll be waiting on him,” Mathieu cautioned.

Mathieu is a dangerous safety who has three interceptions this season, including one returned for a touchdown. He has 32 interceptions during his NFL career.

If and when the time comes that Daniel is facing Mathieu in an NFL game, the young QB better be careful. The Honey Badger is always on the prowl.

Daniels has boosted his stock and is now potentially in the mix to be the top overall draft pick in 2024.
