The Kansas City Chiefs traded wide receiver Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins this week for five draft picks.

In return for the six-time Pro Bowler, Andy Reid and Co. will walk away with the Nos. 29 and 50 picks in the 2022 NFL draft, plus a fourth-rounder. In addition, they’ll also get fourth- and sixth-round selections in the 2023 NFL Draft.

That is obviously quite a haul, but also the going rate for a guy who can serve as a legitimate No. 1 receiver for an up-and-coming talent like Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.

During his introductory press conference this week, Hill got brutally honest about leaving behind the Chiefs and his now-former quarterback, Patrick Mahomes.

“It’s tough,” Hill said. “But someone comes to you with a lot of money, it changes. I even had a conversation with Pat. That’s my brother for life, no matter what. We don’t even got to be on the same team, Pat, Kelce… I’m gonna miss those guys. I know those guys still gonna ball cause they Hall of Famers.”

The Dolphins ended up giving Hill a four-year, $120 million extension, including $72.2 million guaranteed with $52.535 million due at signing. That made him the highest-paid receiver in NFL history, eclipsing the contract Davante Adams got from the Las Vegas Raiders just last week.

The New York Jets were also in the running for Hill’s services, but it appears he wasn’t overly interested in going to the Big Apple.

It will be interesting to see where both the Chiefs and Dolphins go from here. Miami is currently being linked to a monster blockbuster quarterback trade, but it remains to be seen whether it’ll actually come to fruition.

Who will ultimately emerge out of this trade as the big winner? Time will tell.
