Urban Meyer has a reputation for ditching one team in order to take the next best opportunity.

He did it at Utah, Bowling Green, and Florida before landing at Ohio State.

Now he is the head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars and is having a rough first year.

To be fair, that was to be expected given the team’s 1-15 record in 2020.

But chaos has taken over in college football and has left major job openings at both Oklahoma and Notre Dame.

More are likely to follow as top coaches change programs.

So what is Meyer’s stance on this?

Could be pull a Bobby Petrino and ditch his struggling NFL team to head back to college?

According to sources, Meyer has no desire to head back to the college ranks.

Should we believe him?

Meyer Makes His Position Clear

The Jaguars are 2-9 on the season and Meyer has shown up with a long-term plan in mind.

Him jumping ship now may tank his reputation to a point of no return.

Also, the NFL may be a better situation for Meyer due to the lack of pressure and recruiting that comes at a major college program.

That was the whole point of his multiple retirements in the first place.

Meyer is with a team that is in no rush to win.

Jaguars ownership has also stuck with him after an embarrassing video surfaced of him getting danced on by a woman at an Ohio bar.

The team showed loyalty to him and now he has to show it back to them.

Joining a college program would also mean ditching the Jaguars during the middle of his first season.

Perhaps if this were a few years down the road, Meyer may head back to college.

But doing so now would just be too low of a move.
