Urban Meyer's wife Shelley speaks out, thanks friends, fans before leaving Twitter

Urban Meyer's wife, Shelley, posted a detailed, emoji-filled message to Twitter on Thursday afternoon and then signed off, apparently for the final time.

The wife of the Jacksonville Jaguars first-year head coach has been put in the national spotlight in recent days following the release of a viral video that showed a young woman dancing suggestively against her husband's leg at an Ohio bar last weekend. Meyer did not fly home with his team from Cincinnati following the loss to the Bengals last Thursday, a defeat that dropped the Jags to 0-4 this fall.

The coach reportedly apologized to his players by position group and apologized to the full team. He told media members on Wednesday that he does not plan on resigning due to the incident.

Prior to his NFL gig, Meyer registered a 187-32 career record in the college ranks, earning the MAC Coach of the Year Award in 2001, as well as a pair of MWC Coach of the Year nods in 2003 and 2004. Meyer took home those honors during his first four seasons as a collegiate coach, which were split between Bowling Green State and the University of Utah.

The 57-year-old made his mark from 2005 through 2010 with the University of Florida and then 2012 through 2018 at the head of the Ohio State football program.
