USC Trojans star quarterback Caleb Williams may be the best player in the nation, and rightfully so. He is projected to be the first overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, and he amazes pretty much every time he steps onto the field.

He has led the Trojans to a record of 7-2 on the season so far, and there is still work to be done. On the year he has thrown for 2,646 yards and 25 touchdowns through the nine games.

Williams was named to the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award top 10 and the Davey O’Brien QB Class of 2023. Both awards are special and Williams's inclusion means something for the incredible year that he has put together.

The Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award is given to the nation's top upperclassman quarterback who meets different qualifications. Those includes character, scholastic and athletic achievement from the players.

The Davey O’Brien Award is given to the best quarterback in college for that particular season. Williams was in the running last season, but the award ended up going to Max Duggan from TCU.

"Through nine games of the 2023 season, Williams is completing a higher percentage of his passes and throwing for more yards per attempt than he did in 2022. He leads the nation in total points responsible for and is tied for No. 1 in the nation in passing touchdowns. Williams has also already rushed for nine touchdowns this season, one short of the number he posted last season."

Per Erik McKinney of WeareSC

Williams still has some time to make his case for the honors, and with the tough schedule left for USC, he could make a real case. The team faces off against Washington this weekend, before traveling to Auzten Stadium to take on the Oregon Ducks. They then return home to face the talented cross-town rival UCLA Bruins to end their regular season.

There certainly will be plenty of chances for Williams to make his stake in the awards, and if he can perform well, maybe he will win one. He is one of the best players in college football and rightfully is among the honorees for these awards.
